Busy Times

on .

PHEW!!! It's been a busy few weeks for everyone here at Sgoil an Rubha. We've had our 'Battle of the Bands' event, which was a great success and enjoyed by parents, pupils and staff alike.

P7 have been on their trip to Craggan Outdoor Centre and I think it is fair to say that they had a fantastic 3 days of activities and fun. They've also had a visit from Mrs Cunningham (Head of Guidance), who spoke to them about their transition to S1.

Our Fun Evening was held on Friday the 25th of May.  We had great weather and a fantastic turn out from parents, pupils and community members.  A big thank you to all those who came along to support the school.

We were very fortunate to have the Challenger Bus with us at Sgoil an Rubha last week. Each class had a chance to visit the bus and it was very well attended in the evenings.

Mod Week has been and gone, with a fair few medals and trophies being awarded to Sgoil an Rubha pupils. A lot of hard work went into preparing for the competitions and all involved should feel extremely proud of their efforts.

Today, pupils and staff went all patriotic and came to school dressed in red, white and blue to commemorate the Queens Diamond Jubilee. P4 held and assembly where they told staff, pupils and parents some of what they'd learned during their project on the Jubilee. They invited parents to join them at a tea party and all the pupils of Sgoil an Rubha were treated to crisps, juice and ice-cream.

Pupils have also been extremely busy completing their folio jotters, which will go home this week, as a follow up to their annual progress reports.

There are a number of events still to come this month....Charlie Nicolson Football Tournament, Rural Sports, P7 Transition Days and Sports Day, to name but a few.

Photos of recent events can be found on our GALLERIES page. More information about all these events will be added by P7 over the next couple of days.

Battle of the Raps

on .

Over the past few weeks (during music lessons) P5-7 have been working in groups writing raps, adding musical accompaniment, devising dance routines and creating Powerpoint presentations to go with their work.  This afternoon, each group had the chance to perform their rap in front of the rest of their classes.  The groups were scored on a variety of aspects of their performance and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded.  1st prize went to The Dynamite Dudes, 2nd place was The Smashing Smarties and in 3rd place, The Munchers.  All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and it served as a excellent prelude to next week's Battle of the Bands Finale!  Parents should note that they are invited to attend the Battle of the Bands which will take place on Thursday 10th May at 1.30pm.  It promises to be a great afternoon of entertainment!!! :-)

See below, footage of the winning rap group, "The Dynamite Dudes".  Video clips of the other groups can be found on our Enterprise Page.  A big thank you to Gary P7 for filming the performances! :-D
